An innovative option for total shoulder replacements that conserves more of the patient’s natural bone.

STEMLESS SHOULDER x-rayNewport News, VA – July 22, 2019  Dr. John Aldridge, orthopaedic surgeon at Hampton Roads Orthopaedics Spine & Sports Medicine (HROSM), has introduced the Equinoxe Stemless Shoulder to the Hampton Roads community. The new shoulder is a bone-conserving prosthesis designed for anatomic total shoulder replacements.

“The Equinoxe Stemless Shoulder is an implant built for total shoulder replacements to conserve as much of the patient’s bone as possible for a more natural recovery,” says Dr. Aldridge. “Patients who may be eligible for this new implant may suffer from osteoarthritis, osteonecrosis, post-traumatic injury and more.”

This prosthesis is engineered to simplify the surgical technique and decrease the amount of steps to implant in the patient’s shoulder. “These simplifications decrease the operative time which allows the patient to be under anesthesia for less time and start recovering as soon as possible,” states Dr. Aldridge.

Dr. Aldridge began using the Equinoxe Stemless Shoulder replacement back in the spring and is excited about the positive outcomes he is seeing in his patient’s recovery. If you would like to learn more about the Equinoxe Stemless Shoulder or the total shoulder replacement surgery, please call our office to schedule an appointment with Dr. John Aldridge at 757-873-1554.
