Elizabeth Kern, DO

Dr. Elizabeth Kern is a dedicated orthopaedic surgeon with a strong academic foundation, extensive surgical training, and a passion for delivering compassionate, patient-centered care. She completed her Orthopedic Surgery Residency at Prisma Health / University of South Carolina School of Medicine, where she trained from 2020–2025 and developed advanced expertise in orthopaedic surgery across a broad range of specialties. She subsequently completed a fellowship in Adult Reconstruction at Wake Forest University, further refining her expertise in hip and knee replacement surgery.
Originally from the Midwest, Dr. Kern earned her Doctorate of Osteopathic Medicine from Midwestern University Chicago College of Osteopathic Medicine after completing a Master of Science in Medical Physiology at Loyola University Chicago. She received her undergraduate degree in Biology with a minor in Sociology from Boston College.
Throughout her medical training, Dr. Kern has remained deeply committed to education, mentorship and research. She served as both a Gross Anatomy Teaching Assistant and Biochemistry Tutor during medical school, helping guide and support fellow students in their academic development. Her research contributions include published and presented work focused on orthopaedic surgical techniques and joint replacement outcomes, with presentations featured at the South Carolina Orthopedic Association Annual Meetings.
Dr. Kern is an active member of several professional organizations, including the American Association of Hip and Knee Surgeons, the American College of Osteopathic Surgeons and the Ruth Jackson Orthopaedic Society. She has also been recognized for her academic achievement and leadership throughout her career.
Outside of medicine, Dr. Kern enjoys running, working out, exploring museums and new cities and attending live music events. She is also passionate about volunteerism and has supported numerous community organizations throughout her education and training.
